What is Minhwa?
Minhwa is a Korean folk painting tradition filled with symbols of good luck, happiness and protection. Its detailed appearance can be surprising: the fundamental techniques are simple enough for a first-time painter to enjoy.
Layer by layer, the process naturally slows you down. You focus, mix color and watch the painting come alive, which is why many students describe the experience as deeply calming.

Meet the founder
I studied art and design in both Korea and the Netherlands, and Art Studio Gong grew from my wish to share the beauty of Korean art and East Asian aesthetics here in the Netherlands.
Through Minhwa, I hope to create a gentle bridge between cultures, one that feels approachable, personal and joyful. You don’t need any painting experience. The studio is a place to slow down, follow the brush, and enjoy making something with your own hands.
More than creating a finished painting, I hope each session gives you a restorative moment for yourself. A little more calm, happiness and richness to carry back into everyday life.
“Come by yourself, with a friend, or as a small group. Everything is prepared, you only need to arrive and enjoy making.”
